Typically, they will exhibit some of the following abnormal behavior:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pacing<\/li><li>Panting more than usual<\/li><li>Getting to ground level<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to Expect to During a Pet&#8217;s Seizure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing what to expect can help you stay calm and understand how to help your pet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-fb28996a-c6da-4c64-af55-d63974407a14\"><li>Seizures can last from 30 seconds to 35 minutes. <\/li><li>After the seizure itself, your pet will enter a wind-down phase. You will see your pet trying to get up and achieve balance. They may still be panting or hyperventilating. They may run and hide until they are feeling normal.<\/li><li>Watch for a second seizure. If this happens, it&#8217;s called a cluster seizure, and you pet needs to be seen by a veterinarian immediately.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gradyvet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/when-your-pet-has-a-seizure-2.png\" alt=\"When Your Pet Has a Seizure: What to Do\" class=\"wp-image-329\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Can Do During Your Pet&#8217;s Seizure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Watching pets suffer can make us feel helpless, but there are some important steps you can take during your pet&#8217;s seizure that will help keep them safe and treat them afterwards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Although cats and dogs usually get down from heights themselves before having a seizure, if your pet starts seizing while on the furniture, move them to the floor to prevent falls.<\/li><li>Avoid your pet&#8217;s mouth at all costs.
